What's changing in our Membership Terms & Conditions

Effective 1 October 2026
We've updated the Housed Membership Terms & Conditions. Most of the changes make the Terms clearer and fairer, some reflect how our clubs actually run day to day, and a few introduce new rules we need every member to follow.
This page is a plain-English summary. It isn't a substitute for the Terms themselves. The full updated Terms are available at https://housed.com.au/terms,, in the App and in the Member Portal.
The short version
We've removed the $1.50 per-transaction fee.
Cancelling, holding and cooling off are all explained more clearly, and your rights to cancel without penalty are now spelled out in one place.
Towels are now mandatory for every visit.
The minimum age for the sauna, plunge and wellness areas has increased from 16 to 18.
Children under 15 can no longer be brought onto club premises.
We've added rules covering filming and photography, personal training, and member conduct.
We've removed the blanket permission to use your photo in our marketing. We now ask for your consent separately.
Fees and payments
*The $1.50 transaction fee that currently applies to every payment is no longer relevant. We've allocated this to go toward our operational cost - so your total stays exactly the same.
We've also confirmed in writing that Membership Dues are billed in advance, and that if your payment is overdue we'll notify you and give you a reasonable chance to fix it before we suspend your club access. Previously the Terms simply said access would be refused.
Fees for your club are now published in a single Fee Schedule, available at your club and in the App, rather than being scattered through the Terms.
Holds
Each Hold must now run for a minimum of two continuous weeks. Requests shorter than that can't be processed.
Everything else is unchanged: four complimentary weeks per membership year, $5 per week after that, and a maximum of twelve months in total. A Hold still pauses any minimum term and pushes your commitment end date out by the same number of days.
Cooling-off periods
We've rewritten this section so the timing is unambiguous.
Your 14-day cooling-off period now runs from your Membership Start Date or your join date, whichever is later. So if you sign up in advance and choose a later start date, your cooling-off period doesn't begin until your membership actually starts.
If you joined before your club opened, your cooling-off period runs from the club's official opening date or your Membership Start Date, whichever is later.
If your membership includes an introductory offer longer than 14 days (for example, 30 days free), your cooling-off period is extended to match the length of that offer.
This replaces the previous standalone 30-day Foundation Membership cooling-off period.
Minimum-term (lock-in) memberships
These terms haven't changed in substance, but they've been moved out of the wellness section and into their own clause where you can actually find them (clause 4.5).
We've also added an important clarification: a lock-in does not limit your right to cancel during the cooling-off period, for a qualifying reason under clause 8.2, for a pregnancy cancellation, or where we make a change that significantly reduces the benefits of your membership. No early termination fee applies to any of those cancellations.
Where an early termination fee does apply, it remains a flat $350 or 50% of the remaining contract value, whichever is lower.
Cancelling your membership
Two additions:
If you cancel under clause 8.2 (for example, because we've moved your club or increased your dues outside the agreed process) and your request lands less than three business days before your next direct debit, that payment may still go through because of bank processing times. No further dues are charged after your termination date.
In the event of a member's death, the membership ends on that date, no further dues are payable, no termination fee applies, and any debit processed afterwards is refunded once we're notified.
When we can end a membership
We've added two grounds. We may terminate a membership where we reasonably believe a member has behaved in a way that threatens the health, safety or wellbeing of another member, guest or team member, or where a member repeatedly fails to follow the Club Rules after being told in writing and given a chance to correct it.
Clothing, footwear and towels
A towel is now mandatory on every visit. You must carry and use one on all equipment, benches, mats and in studios.
If you arrive without a towel, you can buy one at reception. If you'd rather not, you'll be asked to leave the club for that visit. No refund or credit applies to a visit or class missed for this reason.
We've also been more specific about attire: a top covering your torso and enclosed sports footwear as a minimum. Shirtless training, and training in underwear or swimwear, isn't permitted outside the wellness area. Bare feet are fine in change rooms, the sauna, plunge and relaxation areas, and in studios where the class calls for it.
Age rules and children on premises
The minimum age for the sauna, plunge pool, spa, steam room and any other wellness facility is now 18 (previously 16).
Children under 15 can no longer be brought onto club premises at any time. That includes the fuel bar, reception and waiting areas. No minor may be left unattended anywhere on the premises. Our team, including fuel bar staff, can't supervise children, and attending a class isn't compatible with supervising a child.
If a child is brought in or left unattended in breach of this rule, we may ask the responsible adult and the child to leave. Repeated breaches are treated as a breach of the Club Rules.
This doesn't affect members aged 15 to 17, who keep their existing access during staffed hours.
Wellness space
Access to the wellness area is a benefit of certain membership types only (currently Full House) and is limited to members aged 18 and over.
The wellness space is now a designated quiet zone. Loud conversation and playing music or media aloud aren't permitted.
Phones, cameras and camera-enabled smart watches can't be used or carried in the wellness area at any time. Please store your phone in a locker before you enter. If you need to stay contactable, stay outside the wellness area.
Filming, photography and your image
This is new, and it cuts both ways.
You can film yourself at our clubs for personal, non-commercial social media, including content tagging Housed. You need to film only during your permitted access times, avoid capturing any other member, guest or team member without their consent, never film in change rooms, bathrooms or wellness areas, avoid tripods and lighting rigs that get in people's way, and stop if a team member asks you to.
Professional and commercial filming isn't permitted without written approval from management. That includes hired photographers or videographers, crews, professional lighting or audio, sponsored or paid content, content promoting a business or product, and content used to give fitness instruction. Filming doesn't reserve a studio or any part of the club.
On our side, we've removed the blanket permission in the old Terms that allowed us to use your photograph for press and promotional purposes. We now give notice when promotional photography is happening, you can choose not to be included, and we won't use your image for promotion without your consent under a separate media release.
We've also confirmed that camera surveillance excludes change rooms, bathrooms and other private areas, is used only for security, safety, incident investigation and operations, and is never used for marketing.
Personal training
Only trainers authorised and registered by Housed may train or instruct members and guests in our clubs.
You must not provide personal training, coaching or fitness instruction to another member or guest, whether one-on-one or in a group (including bootcamp, Hyrox-style or circuit-style sessions), whether paid or unpaid, without our written authorisation.
Training alongside a mate, or spotting them, is not personal training and is absolutely fine.
Member conduct, suspensions and bans
We've added an explicit conduct standard. Abuse, harassment, sexual harassment, intimidation, bullying, victimisation, discrimination, unwelcome physical contact and unwelcome sexual attention directed at any team member, contractor, member or guest will not be tolerated, whether it happens in a club or in any communication connected with a membership.
We've paired that with a fair process. If we reasonably believe conduct falls within this clause, we may suspend access for up to 14 days while we investigate, and your Membership Dues are paused during any suspension. Before any suspension longer than 14 days, any termination or any ban, we'll tell you in writing what's alleged and give you a reasonable opportunity to respond, except where immediate action is needed for someone's safety.
Training floor and equipment
We've written down what most members already do: return weights and equipment to their home, unload plates and bars after use, don't drop or slam weights anywhere in the club, use collars when lifting, and don't hoard equipment during busy periods. Time limits may apply to cardio and high-demand equipment at peak times, as signed in the club.
Reformer class credits
Two clarifications for Home members:
If you cancel a booked reformer class within 8 hours of the start time, the credit is forfeited. If we cancel a class, your credit is returned. The old wording didn't distinguish between the two.
Check-in is now by seeing your trainer at the start of class. It's your responsibility to make sure you're checked in.
No-show restrictions are now based on three cumulative no-shows. If you're restricted, contact Member Support or wait 72 hours to book again.
Your health
We've added a clear statement of what you're responsible for: considering your own medical history, physical condition, injuries, allergies and dietary requirements, consulting a health professional if you have or suspect a medical condition, are pregnant or are taking medication, and stopping immediately and seeking assistance if you experience pain, dizziness, shortness of breath or other distress.
Pregnancy: you must tell us before attending a class while pregnant or potentially pregnant, discuss ongoing participation with your doctor, and stop attending classes at 13 weeks' gestation or earlier if advised.
Privacy
We've removed the clause stating that your data would be used after cancellation, including for re-engagement campaigns.
We've also removed the statement that you can't use the club if you don't provide health information. Our Privacy Policy, available at housed.com.au, explains how we handle your information.
Liability
We've narrowed the indemnity you give us so it no longer applies where the loss was caused by our own negligence or wrongful act. We've also confirmed that nothing in the Terms excludes rights that can't lawfully be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.
How we'll tell you about future changes
Where a change materially affects your rights, we'll display notice prominently at each club (including reception and club entry) for at least 30 days before it takes effect, and make the updated Terms available in the App, Member Portal and website for the same period.
If a change significantly reduces the benefits of your membership, you can cancel without penalty within 30 days of it taking effect.
Please keep your App and Member Portal notifications switched on so you don't miss anything.
